Description

It's been a long time since i wanted to portray a drow and finally i found the time and an interesting idea to work on :)
The result is this image: a noble drow riding his blizzard.
I spent a lot of hours to achieve this result, even if I'm not completely satisfied (in example, I should have done his skin a little darker and there's a little perspective error on his left arm...); I think I could tweak it forever so I had to put an end to it.
I love fantasy artworks

As always photoshop7 + wacom graphire, original resolution 4961x3508px
Please take a look to the larger version link down there :)

My only critique is that the blizzard is lost against the background. It's too similar in tone, color and texture. Vary at least one of those things and it'll stand out more I think.

The head on the lizard and the details are great. Maybe the lizard should be placed more solidly on the ground by darkening some of the shadows?

I don't remember how they're described in the novels, but the FR Campaign Setting book describes the drow's riding lizards as bipedal, much like a velociraptor. Minor nitpick, sorry. :p
And I've been waiting forever for the rest of your Elemental Lords series. I hope you finish them soon.

aaargh! that lizard will make me crazy. I spent a lot of hours triying to find the right colors and tones to make it reliable and still fitting with the sorrounding colors. It seems that the problem is the opposite: it doesn't stand out enough -_-'
I wonder if i can find the time to work more on it. :)

Frpnavarro:
thanks to the observation, i don't have any D&D manual, so i used my imagination and i thought to it as something similar to a gecko (because of the ability to climb every surface), but with a longer neck and a body raised respect the ground. ;)
for the other two elemental lords, i have the ideas, just need to find the time to put them in practice...

thanks everyone for the comment
I would like to know as well what you guys think about the far background: should i have worked on it more?

Great work! Light on the stalagmites is excellent! But the lizzard looks a little bit like unconnected on the ground... ;)
